Pick List

The Pick List, if utilized by your Trading Partner, can be accessed by clicking the Shipping Documents icon located at the top of the Purchase Order.

Shipping Labels

Shipping Labels are Fulfillment-generated labels that can be adhered to cartons, boxes, or pallets of product when shipped. Shipping Labels are sourced from your Advance Ship Notice and built out to your Trading Partner's specifications, and cannot be altered without a request from your Trading Partner.

To generate labels, begin by creating an Advance Ship Notice (ASN) in the SPS Commerce Fulfillment portal. Ensure all required shipment details are completed, including shipment ID, pack/carton information, item quantities, weights, and carton counts. Save and validate the ASN to ensure it passes all required checks. Once validated, you can generate and print the labels directly from the ASN using the Print Shipping Documents option.

Packing Slip

The Packing Slip is often used for Orders being shipped directly to an end consumer.  Packing Slips are built to your Trading Partner's specifications, and cannot be altered without a request from your Trading Partner. The Packing Slip should be included in the actual shipment you are sending.

The Packing Slip, if required by your Trading Partner,  can be accessed by clicking the Shipping Documents icon from a saved Advance Ship Notice.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Missing Shipping Step: Ensure any outstanding PO Changes have been acknowledged, and if your trading partner requires a PO Acknowledgment make sure to send one before you make the Advance Ship Notice.

  • Testing Labels: Generate a draft ASN and print the label for verification or testing purposes without sending official shipping documents.

  • Updating Labels: If you print labels from a saved, not sent, ASN draft and then later edit that ASN draft's items, quantities, etc., the data on the labels you printed initially will no longer be accurate. If you make changes to the ASN's pack or item info you will need to print new labels.

FAQs

  • What is an SSCC number and where can I find it? An SSCC number is an 18-digit identifier assigned to a logistics unit, which includes any combination of trade items, such as cases, and pallets packaged together for transportation purposes. It acts as a license plate to identify and track shipments through the supply chain, and can be found underneath the barcode on an SSCC label.

  • Do all ASN types for all retailers utilize Fulfillment labels? Most Fulfillment ASNs are intended to generate labels, but there are some ASN types or scenarios where a Fulfillment Shipping Label will not be generate.
