Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs) are a critical part of supply chain management, but users may encounter issues with zero quantities appearing in Fulfillment ASNs. This article explains why this happens, how to manage it, and the system limitations involved.
Overview of Zero Quantity Behavior in ASNs
Zero quantities in Fulfillment ASNs can occur due to the following reasons:
Completed Purchase Orders (POs): If a PO is already in "Complete" status, the available quantities may display as zero when creating an ASN. However, you can still proceed by manually entering the ship quantities for the relevant lines.
System Behavior for Remaining Quantities: ASNs inherit items and quantities from the PO and may also track any prior ASNs for that PO. For example: If a PO has a total quantity of 10 and an ASN is created for 5, the remaining 5 items will appear on the next ASN. If the full quantity (10) has already been shipped, creating another ASN will show zero quantities because the system recognizes that the full quantity has been shipped.
Carton Sticker Quantities: When creating carton stickers, quantities must be entered for each pack on the ASN. If quantities are not entered, the system may display zero or incorrect quantities.
How to Address Zero Quantities in ASNs
To address zero quantities in ASNs, ensure that your Ship Quantity and Pack Quantity fields have correct values. If a document shows a zero quantity that you can't update, this is because the full quantity ordered was already included on previous ASNs.
Understanding the reasons behind zero quantities in ASNs and knowing how to manage them can help streamline your shipping processes. While the system has certain limitations, manual adjustments can resolve most issues effectively.
