In this article, we will define specific Target Plus Assortment attribute requirements, providing additional context and direction for providing information in these fields.
Product Title
Product Title is a detailed description of each item. This title will appear on the item's Product Detail Page (PDP). It is the first piece of information the customer sees on the item's PDP.
Product Title Recipe
Target Plus is looking for a specific combination of information to make up an item's Product Title.
Brand - the brand name associated with the item.
Size Grouping - references if item is grouped within Men’s, Women’s, Girl’s, Boy’s, Kid’s, etc.
Item Description/Feature - provides a brief description of item and should contain SEO (Search Engine Optimization) terms.
Target Plus Item Type - must be completed with the ‘Predicted Item Type’ information provided in the item transfer sheet.
Style Number/Model Number - should only be provided if applicable. It often applies to appliances or electronic items.
Size/Color - should only be provided if applicable. It represents the color or size in which the product it being offered. This information will always be required for items with variations.*
Count - should only be provided if applicable.
* Tips for Size/Color:
Size is a unit measurement. Use abbreviations (e.g., oz. [ounces], [inches], ' [feet])
Avoid terms like "multi-colored" or "assorted colors" unless the item is truly a rainbow of colors (four or more colors)
For items with multiple colors, the predominant color should be listed with up to two colors listed in the title.
Product Titles for Items with Variations
Product Titles for Parent items must not contain any variation information, but instead a general title that would describe the grouping.
Each Child item (the items listed below the Parent) will include the general title but also should contain details on its variations.
Product Titles for Stand Alone Items
For stand alone items, the Product Title will describe each item individually. Again, this title will be used on Target.com on the item's Product Detail Page.
Variations
Primary Variant Name, Secondary Variant Name
These two attributes are used only for items with variations, indicating if the item varies by one or two characteristics. For example, a shirt may vary by Size and Color, while a fire pit may only vary by Size.
Target Plus only accepts 'Color' or 'Size' for these fields even if the product varies by count, flavor, or another attribute.
Primary Variant Value, Secondary Variant Value
These two attributes are used only for items with variations in conjunction with Primary Variant Name and Secondary Variant Name. In these fields you will enter the specific variation for each child item.
In the above example, the items vary by both ‘Color’ and ‘Size’. Both the parent item and its associated child items must define the item's primary and secondary variant names.
In the variant value fields, the Parent records for each of these groupings simply indicate 'Parent’. The child records indicate first the color variations and then the size variations.

The different return policy options vary per company. To see the return policy options for your business, log into the Target Plus portal and navigate to Return Policies, under Business Info.
Setting a Primary Image
Target Plus requires each item includes one primary image and at least 2 to 3 alternative images. You will need to designate one of those images as a “Primary” image; the first image that customers see when they view your item on target.com.
For information on your options for providing media, please refer to our Providing Media (Images) in Assortment and Adding Item Images via Upload articles.
Regardless of how your images are added to Assortment, you must assign the value Primary Image to both the Media Name and Media Type fields for the item you want to designate as the primary image.
In the Item Import template:
In Assortment:
Designating both the Media Name and Media Type as Primary Image will ensure that when the item is sent to Target, the selected image appears as both the thumbnail and the main image on the item’s Product Detail Page.
