If you have an item that is configured in multiple packaging structures (Consumer Packs, Inner Packs, Case Packs, Pallets, etc), you will need to set up a multi-pack structure in your Item Import template.
NOTE: Only create Multi-Packs for your items if you are instructed to do so by your Trading Partner or SPS implementation consultant.
Creating the Standard Pack Structure
Start by creating the main, or standard, pack structure for the item; choose the pack structure that is the most common. This item must include:
Altogether, this standard pack structure would look like this:
Creating Additional Pack Structures
Once the standard pack structure has been created, you can add as many additional pack structures as necessary.
NOTE: These additional pack structures MUST be added in beneath the standard pack structure in the Item Import template.
Additional pack structures must include:
The GTIN of each additional pack structure. Click here to learn more about how to assign GTINs to your higher level items appropriately.
The Vendor Part Number for the standard pack structure item is then provided in the Parent Vendor Part Number fields, linking the additional pack structures.
For the additional pack structures:
ITEM TYPE must = Pack
PACK TYPE must accurately describe that level's packaging:
IN = Inner Pack
OU = Outer Pack (Master Pack/Case Pack)
PA = Pallet
If PACK TYPE = PA, then PALLET TYPE must = OU
NOTE: You must also provide the additional linear dimensions and weights of each of the additional pack structures provided.
In Assortment
Once you have completed your Multi-Packs, including the standard pack and all additional pack structures, import the template into Assortment. Once imported, you can view the Multi-Pack's structure in the standard pack's item record under Item Details > Packaging Hierarchies.
