Setting up items in the Assortment application begins with the Item Import template. You will download the template from Assortment, add your items, and then import the completed template into Assortment. From there, items can be edited and deleted either via the template or from within Assortment.
Importing Items via the Template
Upon login to Assortment, click on the Imports tab.
Before you can import items into Assortment, you must first download a blank Excel template into which you will enter your item data. To download the template, click Download Excel Template.
From Download Item Import Template:
Select New Template
Identify the Retailers to Include within the template
Check Include Attribute Guide (recommended)
Click Download Template File
Once the file has downloaded, open the file.
Once all required data has been provided for at least one item, you are now ready to import the template into Assortment.
In Assortment, from the Imports tab, drag and drop your completed file into the Upload Your Items box, initiating the import of your items.
Upon the successful upload of your items into Assortment, you will see one of three Import statuses:
For imports that Completed, you will be able to see the number of items imported, the number of items with errors, and the number of valid items. Imports that Failed will have no items imported nor with errors.
The entire file has failed.
Updating Items
There are two ways to update items.
Through an update in the Item Import template
Within Assortment.
If using the Item Import template, there are two options for updating items:
Update the existing template that was used to add the items initially.
Download a fresh copy of the template and make the updates there.
A fresh download is recommended if a new trading partner was recently added or if items have not been updated in some time.
Downloading a Fresh Copy
From the Items tab, check the box to the left of the item to be updated.
Click the download (cloud) icon at the bottom of the page.
Once the file has completed downloading, open the file.
Whether a fresh copy of the template was downloaded or the existing template is being used, to make the update:
Make the necessary update(s) in the template.
Updating Items within Assortment
You can also update an item directly within Assortment. Not all attributes can be updated directly in Assortment.
From the Items tab, click on the hyperlinked unique identifier for the item (Vendor Part Number, UPC, etc.).
In the Item Detail, click Edit This Item.
Find the attribute in the Item Detail. If it is editable, make the necessary update(s).
Click Save.
Deleting Items
When an item needs to be removed from Assortment, there are two options for deletion:
Through the Item Import template
Within Assortment.
Removing an Item through the Item Import Template
In the template, find the item to be deleted.
In column B (the DELETE column), enter a '1" for every item you wish to delete from Assortment.
Removing an Item within Assortment
On the Items tab, check the box to the left of the item to be deleted.
Click the Delete icon at the bottom of the page.
Click Delete to confirm.
