There are many attributes that can be repeated in the Item Import template. Some examples include:

  • Media - multiple image files can be associated with the same item

  • Pricing - an item can have multiple prices including: Unit Cost Price, List Price, Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price and Recommended Retail Price

  • Features/Benefits - an item should have a lengthy list of features and benefits that describes that item

These are just three examples of the hundreds of possible repeatable attributes. Some additional examples include Warranty information, Country of Origin, and Ingredient information.

Identifying a Repeatable Attribute

Attribute Guide

Utilize the retailer-specific Attribute Guide within your Item Import template (starting on the third tab) in order to determine if an attribute is repeatable.

Within the Guide:

  • A "Y" within the Repeatable column indicates an attribute that can be repeated.

  • An "N" indicates an attribute that is not repeatable.

Pop Ups

You can also identify whether or not an attribute is repeatable by reviewing the pop up box associated with the attribute in the Item Import template. Often, the attributes that are repeatable also end with a '1'.

Repeating Attributes in Assortment

Once you have identified a repeatable attribute or group of attributes, follow the steps listed below on how to repeat a group of attributes.

1. Select columns to be copied

Select the column(s) you wish to repeat, right click, and select Copy. In this case, multiple prices need to be provided, therefore these three required pricing attributes have been selected and copied.

2. Insert copied cells

Select the column to the left of where you would like the new column(s) to go, right click, and select Insert Copied Cells. Here, the inserted columns are being inserted to the right of the original Price attributes.

3. Update name(s) of inserted column(s)

Make sure to update the column header(s) to reflect your repeatable group. In this case, change the "1" to "2" in each of the Price fields.
